Telling a human-centered story of educators’ impact on Texas public schools

The Holdsworth Center partners with Texas public school districts to help educators become experts at leadership and to grow stronger leaders within their own systems. For their 2022 Impact Report, the Holdsworth Center came to GRID Impact to create a website that told an engaging, in-depth story about the Holdsworth Center’s work across Texas, and the ripple effect their programs had on leaders, educators and students in 2022.

Shaped visual direction and storytelling approach for the site

Created comps and prototypes of the intended web design

Supported developer in bringing site to life online

The process

After getting a sense of the goal of the site, we delivered mood boards and style frames across two possible visual directions in order to determine the overall visual direction and tone of the site.

We then defined how the site looked, felt, and behaved across a range of content types by prototyping visual layouts and templates.

Finally, we implemented the responsive design direction across all elements of site, then worked with the development team to ensure the story successfully came to life online.

“The process of working with you has been a joy – more than producing this beautiful microsite, we learned from you and the process overall.”

Elizabeth Del Toro

Director of Communications, The Holdsworth Center

The outcome

At the end of the project, the Holdsworth Center launched a multi-page web experience that told a human-centered story of the leaders, schools and districts impacted by their programs in 2022.

The site used an objective, documentary-style approach, incorporating scroll animation, data visualization, and photography, video and audio recordings of leaders and students, allowing site visitors to empathize with beneficiaries of Holdsworth programs and understand their experience firsthand.

The site launched in January 2023 and received praise from the Holdsworth Center staff, Board, and new and existing donors.
