Facilitating collaboration & creativity among Norwegian geologists at work
Equinor (formerly known as Statoil) is a Norwegian energy company working to deliver oil, gas, wind and solar energy to more than 30 countries worldwide. Knowing how important their geologists are to delivering these energy services, Equinor came to frog looking to identify areas of opportunity that would allow the Exploration Group to engage in more creative and collaborative work through the physical space, work processes and facilitating tools.

The process
Through qualitative research with executives and employees, we developed an understanding of the current activities in the work environment and generated a set of opportunity areas that would facilitate more collaboration and creativity.
The outcome
The final experience vision, a set of modular components that worked together across physical, digital and human touchpoints, choreographed the employee experience to encourage conversation and cross-pollination, while allowing space and time for necessary heads-down learning and reflection.
At the end of the first phase of work, we delivered a book and digital presentation outlining the experience vision through illustrated visuals. The book then served as a starting point for a workshop with key stakeholders to generate concepts and ideas for moving forward with design. The vision was then constructed into a pilot workspace for employees to use, test and evaluate, setting the groundwork for further implementation across the company.
